Steve Franconeri, Ph.D. Principle Investigator

Steve Franconeri is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Northwestern. His research is on visual attention, visual memory, number perception, and object tracking. In his spare time he plays squash, tennis, and ultimate frisbee. He drinks way too much coffee. His lab is still accepting research volunteers, independent study students, and workstudy programmers. Heeyoung Choo Graduate Student
Heeyoung recently graduated Yonsei University (in Seoul, South Korea) with a M.A. in Psychology. Her academic interests involve selective attention, cognitive control, and mechanisms of visual selection. When she is not studying, she enjoys listening to music, reading novels, or making skins for her personal website. She also likes to let herself free with doing nothing for a while.

Trixie Lipke Head research assistant
Trixie Lipke is a technical research assistant in the lab. She graduated from Northwestern University in 2007 with a B.A. degree in biology and psychology. She is planning to apply to graduate school soon after she figures out everything. Outside of the lab and working with kids, Trixie can be spotted at a Hello Kitty store or on the tennis courts.

Claudia knows her left from her right better than anyone. Claudia's interests include eyetracking, face perception, and the perception of object continuity.

Sally Martinez Research assistant
Sally is an undergraduate sophomore at Northwestern University who's majoring in Biology and Psychology. She is currently completing pre-medical training and hopes to attend Northwestern Medical School upon graduation. When she's not studying, Sally can usually be found practicing her color guard moves for the Northwestern University Marching Band. She also enjoys watching movies, listening to music, and playing the flute.

Doug Bemis Lab Alumnus
Doug created one rendered fog to rule them all. And then he revolutionized grouping. This fall, Doug enters the Psychology Ph.D. program at NYU.

Jeff Lin Lab Alumnus
Jeff recently graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BA in Psychology. His research focuses on attentional capture and multiple object tracking, and he currently works as a field operative at UBC campus conducting multiple object tracking experiments on a large IMAX-like projection dome. When not slaving away at the projection dome, Jeff may be found at the basketball courts, with a volleyball at the beach, or playing gigs with his band in Vancouver. Jeff will enter the Ph.D. program at the University of Washington this fall, to work with Geoffrey Boynton.

Jeff Nelson Lab Alumnus
Jeff graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with his B.S. in Psychology and Philosophy and a minor in Spanish. He is interested in studying how visual information is integrated over time, the mechanisms of attention, and the connection between visual cognition and emotion. In his spare time Jeff enjoys playing basketball, cooking, and wailing on the sax. After a year in the lab as head research assistant, Jeff headed off this fall to the Ph.D. program in Psychology at Duke University, to work with Steve Mitroff
