Personal Information

Working in the Psychology Department and at the Dean's Office of the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences are just two of my many links to Northwestern. I used to be a Northwestern student myself (Ph.D., 1977). I'm married to a Northwestern faculty member, Rob Linsenmeier, who is also a Northwestern alum (also Ph.D., 1977). I'm a Northwestern mom too. Our son David graduated in 1998. He's based in New Jersey, where he works in the pharmaceutical industry; his wife Joan (nice name!) will join him there soon. Many of his friends call him Dave. Our daughter Katherine (also known as Kathy) is a math teacher at the freshman campus of New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois. In 2004-05 she took a one-year leave to earn her master's in learning sciences at Northwestern. Our son Jeremy (who hasn't changed his name yet) was an undergraduate in biomedical engineering at Northwestern and is now a student at Northwestern's Feinberg School of Medicine. He has enjoyed the opportunity to stay in close touch with high school friends while also building friendships with new people at Northwestern.

In addition to hanging around with students at Northwestern, I've been involved in many volunteer activities in the Evanston Community, mostly related to children and teens. I've served on school district committees addressing the education of gifted children, and I was co-chair of the Evanston HIV Education Task Force. Currently, I'm a member of the Advisory Board for the School-Based Health Center at Evanston Township High School. I don't seem to have much free time for hobbies, etc. I've been working on the same needlepoint picture for my living room for years, and there are lots of old papers and pictures in my basement, patiently waiting to be organized. When I do have free time, my favorite way to spend it is to sit around and chat with my friends. I like having a job where I get to sit around and chat with lots of bright, interesting Northwestern students!
